About arabian mate puzzles
The Arabian mate is one of the oldest recorded checkmate patterns, named for its appearance in medieval Arabic chess manuscripts. A rook and a knight combine against a king trapped in the corner: the knight covers the escape squares while the rook delivers mate along the edge. What makes it worth learning is how often the pattern appears in ordinary games without either player noticing — a knight on f6 and a rook reaching h7 is a mating threat that beginners routinely miss on both sides of the board. Practise it until the rook-and-knight geometry becomes automatic.
How to train arabian mate
Forced mates reward exhaustive checking. Look at every check first, even the ones that look absurd — a mating net usually starts with a move that gives up material or puts a piece where it can be captured.
