About pawn promotion puzzles
Promotion tactics turn a pawn one square from the eighth rank into the most powerful piece on the board, and the puzzles here cover the whole range: forcing a pawn through, clearing its path with a sacrifice, and — most instructively — under-promotion, where taking a knight or rook instead of a queen is the only move that wins or avoids stalemate.
