About bishop endgame puzzles

Bishop endgames turn on one question: are the bishops on the same colour or opposite colours? Opposite-coloured bishops are the most reliable drawing resource in chess, and knowing this saves half-points from positions that look lost. Same-coloured bishop endings, by contrast, are often decided by which side can create a passed pawn on the squares their bishop controls. These puzzles train you to evaluate the colour complex first and calculate second, and to recognise the good-bishop-versus-bad-bishop imbalance that decides so many otherwise equal positions.

How to train bishop endgame

A bishop endgame is a shape, not a sequence. Once you can spot the shape you will find the move in seconds instead of calculating from scratch, so train for recognition speed: glance, name the pattern, then verify.
